Free Earth Day Webinar Hosted by Ithaca College Media Literacy Initiative
ITHACA, NY — A free webinar designed for people interested in learning about sustainability education will be held on Earth Day. Hosted by Project Look Sharp, Ithaca College’s media literacy initiative, “Where Media Literacy and Sustainability Education Meet” will take place through Adobe Connect from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.
The webinar will feature Sox Sperry, the principal author of Project Look Sharp’s environmental lessons and a longtime educator and curriculum developer. Sperry will discuss Project Look Sharp’s secondary science education materials and sustainability topics, including chemicals in the environment, endangered species, resource depletion and global warming. The webinar will include video demonstrations, polls and a question and answer section.

Based in the Ithaca College School of Humanities and Sciences, Project Look Sharp provides lesson plans, materials, training and support for the effective integration of media literacy with critical thinking into classroom curricula at all education levels. It holds regular workshops and has produced more than a dozen free online curriculum kits for teachers on how media “construct” such topics as presidential campaigns, the Middle East, peace and war, and social justice.
