Ithaca Dickens Festival Features 'Tale of Two Cities' - With a Twist

ITHACA, NY — The Dickens in Ithaca Festival continues on Sunday, April 15, with an R-rated adaptation of the author’s classic “A Tale of Two Cities.” The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Kitchen Theatre, 417 W. State/W. MLK Jr. Street in Ithaca. Tickets are $11 and can be purchased by calling Ticket Center Ithaca at (607) 273-4497 or by visiting ithacaevents.com.

A one-man show for mature audiences, this “Tale” is a meeting of high camp and low brow, performed in drag and told with a smutty wink and a tribute to the great actresses of the silver screen. The bawdy production was originally staged by New York City’s Ridiculous Theatre Company. Performing it at the Kitchen Theatre will be Ithaca College’s own Bruce Henderson, professor of communication studies.

Sponsored by a number of departments at Ithaca College and organizations in the local community, the Dickens in Ithaca Festival is celebrating the author’s 200th birthday in 2012. For the complete schedule of events, visit www.ithaca.edu/dickensfestival.
