Remembrance Gathering for Gregory Mantone

Importance Message from the Campus Community:
Remembrance Gathering for Gregory Mantone

Friends, classmates, and faculty are invited to gather at Muller Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, to remember Gregory Mantone and provide support to one another. Gregory, a junior in the School of Music, was killed in an automobile accident early Saturday morning while returning from a trip to New York City.

A music education major, Gregory played the euphonium in the Symphonic Band, where he was the section leader, and sang in the Chorus. He was a graduate of Mount Sinai (N.Y.) High School.

The chaplains and professional staff from the Counseling Center will be available during and after the gathering. Information regarding any formal services will also be announced in Intercom.

Please support one another during this difficult time and keep Gregory’s family, friends, classmates, and professors in your thoughts.

My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to Greg's family. My son Austin was very fond of Greg and shared his love for music. He played at Stony Brook Staller Center tonight with Greg and his family and friends in his heart. Nobody knows why a life ends when it does. All we know is that Greg's life was meaningful in many ways. We will always remember Greg for his gentle and kind spirit. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a young man that any parent would be truly proud of. God Bless Greg and his family. We are so very sorry for your loss.
