Ithaca College Wind Ensemble Concert to Benefit the Advocacy Center
ITHACA, NY — The Ithaca College Wind Ensemble will perform a concert at the State Theatre (109 State St., Ithaca) to benefit the Advocacy Center on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. Conducted by Steven Peterson, the performance will include the world premiere of “Revocare” (Latin for “recall”) by Ithaca composer and School of Music lecturer Sally Lamb McCune. The program will also feature trumpet soloist Frank Campos and music by Strauss, Benson, Barber and Daugherty. Tickets will be sold at the door for $30; they are also available at www.ithacaevents.com.
“I was commissioned to write this piece by Joe Piskorowski, chair of the board of directors of the Advocacy Center, whose mission is to provide advocacy, education and support for adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse,” McCune said. “The board was interested in creating a different kind of opportunity to raise funds for and awareness of the important work that the Advocacy Center does. We arrived at this wonderful decision to work together to make something special happen. What a win-win! I get to write a piece for a terrific group of students and the ensemble gets to play in the community in support of a noble cause. I’m very grateful to be a part of it.”
