INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK PHOTO CONTEST

Every November the Office of International Programs organizes a photo contest for study abroad returnees and current international students. Students are asked to submit photographs with the themes of People, Places and a 'special category' which changes yearly. Photos are judged by fellow students and winners receive monetary awards. Announcements regarding each year's contest are made to study abroad returnees and international students in late October. Check the photo guidelines for more information.

TRANSITIONS ABROAD

TransitionsAbroad.com hosts an annual student writing contest for all currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, students who have graduated within the past year, and students currently on leave from school.

For this year's contest (2009), the winning student submission will be awarded $500 in cash, the second place winner will be awarded $150, and the third place winner $100. In addition, the winners will be featured in the April Webzine dedicated to study abroad and educational travel.

All winning pieces will be published on the TransitionsAbroad.com website. Runner-up winners will be awarded $50 and will also be published on TransitionsAbroad.com.

The contest deadline is March 1, 2009 with no entry fee. Winners will be chosen on or about March 15th, 2009 and notified by phone, mail, or e-mail by April 1, 2009 for publication by May 1, 2009 or at such time as all winners have received and cashed payment.

Submissions that have been published at home institutions during the current academic year are also qualified.

The contest covers the gamut from educational student travel, volunteering, internships, short-term work, and traditional study abroad via U.S.-based programs as well as direct enrollment in foreign institutions.
