NON-AFFILIATED STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS

Every student has different needs, whether personal, academic or financial. There are hundreds of well-respected, accredited programs all over the world. If one of the Ithaca College exchange or affiliated programs does not seem appropriate for whatever reason, IC students can study abroad through any program run by an accredited institution.

VERY IMPORTANT: Not all non-affiliated programs are fully accredited. You cannot receive credit for a program run by a non-accredited institution. Please check with the Office of International Programs to determine if a program is properly accredited.

Features of non-affiliated programs:

  • Leave of Absence from Ithaca College required
  • Credit for approved courses will transfer if a student earns grade of C- or better, and if the student completes all required paperwork
  • Grades will not be listed on the IC transcript and are will not be averaged into the student's cumulative GPA
  • Only federal financial aid is eligible to transffer to the costs of a non-affiliated program. (New York State aid may transfer to non-affiliated programs run by a New York state institution.) Ithaca College aid will not transfer.
  • A $415 administrative fee is charged ($200 for winter/summer programs) and a $250 deposit will be required to hold the student's place at Ithaca College for the following semester.
