Program Options

At Ithaca College, we make a distinction between IC programs (which include the Ithaca College London Center and all exchange programs), affiliated programs, non-affiliated programs and short term programs.

Ithaca College London Center

Students will be billed by Ithaca College for Ithaca College tuition, international health/travel insurance, and the group travel package (if participating) when studying at the London Center.  Once students arrive in London and accommodations have been secured, they will be expected to pay a deposit and first month's rent (occasionally, last month's) directly to the landlord.

Exchange Programs

Students will be billed by Ithaca College for Ithaca College tuition and international health/travel insurance.  Airfare/travel expenses are arranged and paid for by each individual student.  Once students arrive at their destination, they will pay for room and board (as determined by the exchange partner).  All courses and grades are guaranteed to transfer and will appear on the student's Ithaca College transcript. Typically, applications are due the semester before a student plans to be abroad.

Affiliated Programs

Students will be billed by Ithaca College for Ithaca College tuition, room and board (as determined by the affiliated program), and international health/travel insurance.  Airfare/travel expenses are arranged and paid for by each individual student. Any additional fees affiliated partners charge will be billed directly to the student by the study abroad organization.  All courses and grades are guaranteed to transfer (internship credits may or may not be considered for transfer - check with OIP for details) and will appear on the student's Ithaca College transcript. Typically, applications are due the semester before a student plans to be abroad.

Non-Affiliated Programs

If a student is interested in participating on a program other than an Ithaca College, exchange, or affiliate program, they may do so by taking a leave of absence from the College. There will be an administrative fee charged in order to handle the transferring of credits and an additional deposit in order to hold the student's place upon return to Ithaca College. In addition, Ithaca College does not guarantee transfer of credit from non-affiliate programs, though in most cases courses will transfer. While the student will receive credit, his/her grades will not appear on his/her Ithaca College transcript, nor be counted toward his/her cumulative GPA. Most applications are due the semester before a student plans to be abroad, although some programs may require applications to be submitted earlier.

Short Term Programs

Ithaca College faculty regularly develop short term, overseas programs in conjunction with courses they are teaching in order to give students a first-hand account of the materials covered in class. These courses vary from year to year depending on faculty interest, though some courses have been traveling regularly for several years. Usually, short term programs take place over the winter break or during the summer, from 2-6 weeks. Costs of these programs vary depending on location and the number of credits being offered.
