~ Valencia Airport ~ Flying Into Other Cities ~

Getting to Valencia

Depending on what your plans are, I would recommend getting to Valencia at least one week before the start of classes. This will give you time to find a place to live, become accustomed to the city, meet some people, and adjust a little to the culture. If you want to travel around Spain before the start of classes, or are planning on taking an intensive language course before classes start, you will want to arrive earlier.

Valencia International Airport

Valencia has one international airport, about 15 minutes outside of the city (96 370 95 00). Unfortunately, the only way to or from there is via taxi (it cost approximately 2000 pesetas from my apartment to the airport). Valencia has two main taxi companies, Radio-Taxi (96 370 33 33) and Tele-Taxi (96 357 13 13). There will most likely be ample taxis waiting outside of the airport.

Flying Into Other Cities

Tickets, however, may be cheaper if you fly to Barcelona (3 hours by train) or Madrid (4 hours by train). Flying to one of these cities may be a little less convenient, but is certainly manageable. There are lots of buses and trains that run from Barcelona and Madrid to Valencia daily. There are also metros and buses that connect the Barcelona and Madrid airports to the city bus and train stations…just ask at an information desk in the airport.
