Student Profile: Evan Falk '09

Evan Falk '09 says his main career goal is to help "foster connections between people from around the world in an effort to minimize communication barriers." He'll get a little taste of global perspective this summer as an intern for NBC Sports during the 2008 Summer Olympics Games. Falk will be working at NBC's Rockefeller Center studios handling digital media and production support for the network's coverage of the Games.

"NBC is a 'mover and shaker' in the global community," says Falk, "and affiliating with this company meshes perfectly with my educational approach as well as my career goals -- to actively change the communications industry as well as influence the global community."

Falk is looking forward to the challenge that the internship promises to have in store. He's admittedly a little apprehensive about interning at such a prestigious company during such an important event, but is nevertheless excited to connect with people from the digital media industry.

Though it's his first exposure to the field of digital media, he's already had plenty of related experience during his years at Ithaca College: as photography editor for the student newspaper, the Ithacan, and as an intern with the Reuters news agency in New York City.

"Working with NBC will be the first opportunity for me to use the skills that I acquired in digital media production in an internship environment," says Falk. "Now is the time to pursue even larger goals and potential opportunities with the hope of developing my education exponentially."
