Come help us with our agenda for the end of the school year:
- Planning group rides and events
- Rolling out the bike share
- Integrating info on biking in Ithaca into orientation
- Any other ideas you have!
We had great weather for biking this semester. Plus, we made a lot of progress on the bike share. We now have a central location for checking in/out the rental bikes and the Student Government Association granted us enough funding to pilot the program this spring with three bicycles (complete with locks, helmets, covers and lights). We must be getting more well known on campus because 6 people are storing their bikes with us for the winter. That's 6 more than last year:) Stay tuned for big things next semester!
Check out IC's very first covered bike shelter constructed in May of 2013 outside of Williams Hall in the center of campus. Two years of hard work went into this project along with lots of support from our adviser, bike enthusiasts among staff and students, Public Safety, the wonderful facilities and maintenance team. This project would not have been possible without their support as well as funding from Ithaca College administration in the form of a Capital Request grant.
We were happy to see the shelter in use just hours after its construction! Campus was in need of more secure locations to lock up bikes since many railings and trees are actually prohibited for locking. this construction assures commuters that their bike will be protected from the elements, which is a must in Ithaca's tempestuous climate.
