Service Initiatives

NRHH if off to a great start with service initiatives!  We have already planned to help out at AppleFest beginning on September 28th.  AppleFest is held in downtown Ithaca, an annual event that celebrates the fall upstate New York weather!  In order for this event to be successful, volunteers are always needed, so NRHH is stepping up and helping out this year!

Here are our events for November:

Hall Wars Food Drive and Hurricane Sandy Relief Meal Sign Away:

NRHH and RHA and getting together to put on a food drive. It is a competition between the residence halls. We are trying to get as many non-perishable foods as we can to donate. The residence hall that brings in the most food will win a prize. There is also a way to virtually donate money. $1 is 8 meals! Along with this we are holding a meal sign-away for Hurricane Sandy. All the money we make from that will go straight to the Red Cross and Hurricane relief.

Here are our events for October:

Zumbathon at Ithaca College: October 6th, 12-2PM

The Ithaca College Zumba Fitness instructors are teaming up with IC Fit to host their semi-annual Zumbathon.  This year, the Zumbathon will be focusing their initiatives on Ithaca's Friendship Center by taking donations of food, clothing, hygiene products and money. NRHH is going to support this cause and our members in this project by participating as an organization.

Emerson Halloween at Ithaca College: October 28th, 6-8PM

Ithaca College staff and faculty members are invited to bring their children to trick-o-treat around a residence hall, Emerson Hall, on campus.  Organizations provide Halloween crafts for the children to do in between getting pounds of candy!  NRHH has been a part of this event for the past two years and are happy to continue our participation!

Spooky Science at the Ithaca Children's Science Center: October 26th 5-9PM

Members of NRHH will go to the Sciencenter and volunteer for this event. Volunteers will help children do educational crafts and help with set-up. Children of all ages from the Ithaca community come to have fun at this event. Everybody dresses up in costumes and has a great time!
