The Constructionists’ platform includes three main initiatives: Spirit, Accountability, and Collaboration, with an overarching goal of community. Our goal is to increase school Spirit by creating traditions to foster a stronger IC Community. We are looking into initiating a program that will sell school Spirit apparel and merchandise, where the funds collected would go directly to supporting our fellow Ithaca College students, who have come into unexpected financial hardships. Accountability involves holding ourselves and others responsible for our actions and promises. We aspire to reassess the progression and status of the SGA Vehicular Transportation Proposal, also known as the Shuttle Proposal. The VTP proposal will help deal with issues of sustainability, parking problems, and unsafe driving. It’s important to obtain tangible results on old and new initiatives. With Collaboration, we aim to unify the campus and academic schools by creating an environment where students not only identify with an academic school or major, but with IC as a whole. A way for students to feel a stronger identity to Ithaca College as a whole, is to increase the student voice at the administration level, by calling upon the administration to have more students on college- wide committees, where students can have direct interaction with their administrators to voice the student body's opinions.
The constructionists are also grounded by experience. Not only do we all have general SGA experience but we also have direct experience for each position: Scott Nachlis, our candidate for President, is a current ex-officio executive board member and has worked very closely with the current President and and the rest of the executive board to have a clear understanding of what is expected. Eve Trojanov, our candidate for VP of Academics, has a double major in Cinema photography, which is in the Park School of Communications and her writing major is in the School of Humanities and Sciences. The VP of Academics is responsible for being able to coordinate several tasks between schools, so being that Eve is involved in two schools, she has the knowledge and skills to be successful. Through Robert's assistantship with the Vice President of Business and Finance, our candidate for VP of Business and Finance, Robert Hohn, has gained direct experience regarding what changes need to be made to current policy. For next year, he has outlined a new potential budget system that will include a more convenient web-based proposal process. The candidate for VP of Campus Affairs, Rachel Heiss, defines what it means to represent Ithaca College. She has been an influential member of the SGA Campus Affairs Committee for 2 years and the student director to the alumni board, where her responsibilities include handing logistics for Fall Splash, which is something she will have to do often, if elected. Our candidate for Communications, Rob Flaherty, has a background in politics, through his internships with multiple U.S. State Senators working with advertisements, and public relations.
