Welcome to your transfer summer orientation guide. All transfer students must attend the one-day mandatory transfer orientation. However, there is an optional extended transfer orientation for students seeking a more traditional overnight orientation experience.

  • Sunday, June 15 - Extended Transfer Orientation (optional)
  • Monday, June 16 - Mandatory Transfer Orientation

Review the information in each section below carefully and contact us with any questions you have along the way. We look forward to meeting you this summer!

Where will you sleep, and what will you eat?

Meals During Orientation

At Ithaca College, we strive to accommodate a wide variety of dietary needs. Include specific requests on your on-line orientation reservation form and let your orientation leader or the dining hall staff know about your specific needs. Your name tag will be your meal pass during orientation.

Extended Orientation Meals:

Your first meal will be with other transfer students attending this orientation session. On Monday morning,a light breakfast will be served between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. - before Mandatory Transfer Orientation begins.

Mandatory Orientation Meals:

Both students and their family members will have a light breakfast during check-in and eat lunch together Monday afternoon.

Extended Orientation Housing

You will be assigned a campus residence hall room during orientation. Rooms are randomly assigned prior to your arrival, and you can expect at least one roommate during your stay. Orientation residence halls are co-ed by floor (meaning men and women are housing on different floors) and each floor has a communal bathroom.

At check-in you will be issued the following access identifications:

  • entry fob (access to your building)
  • room key (access to your room)
  • orientation name tag (access to dining halls and fitness center)

Make sure you meet the Orientation Leader living on the floor in which you are assigned. They will have a list of emergency numbers on their door.

Housing Check-Out
Check out of your room between 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., before Mandatory Orientation. Return your keys to your building's lobby and store luggage in the Orientation Office. For your convenience, luggage will be stored in the orientation office until 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16.

Family Housing and Extended Stays in Ithaca:

  • Family members should make reservations with a local hotel prior to orientation.
  • Students needing to stay overnight before Mandatory Transfer Orientation should sign up for Extended Transfer Orientation.
  • If you require housing accommodations after Mandatory Transfer Orientation, make arrangements with a local hotel as on-campus accommodations will not be available.
  • Contact the FYE office or find local hotel, B&B, camping, and other accommodation information on our Visit Ithaca guide.
