Counselors, HEOP and CSTEM

LeAnn Bennett

Nya:weh Sgneo! My name is LeAnn Bennett and I am excited join the Ithaca College community. I currently serve as the HEOP & CSTEM Counselor with the Office of State Grants and have been at the College since February 2012. My previous work experience has been primarily as a counselor for Higher Education and in Career Services and Development for both the public and private sector.

In my current position, I have the opportunity and privilege to work with our freshmen and sophomore students as they make that important transition from leaving home into being a successful college student. I meet with the students individually to set goals and follow-up with them in the following areas: academics, personal, financial and career. We meet periodically throughout the semester to make sure students are on track to meet their goals and are adjusting well to college life. In this capacity, I consider myself both coach and cheerleader and look forward to working with both our HEOP & CSTEM students.

During summer of 2012, I was given the opportunity to join the Office of State Grants as a HEOP C-STEM Counselor. The students that receive the Arthur O. Eve Grant will be provided the tools and resources to successfully complete their undergraduate education here at Ithaca College. I will be working directly with the juniors and seniors preparing them for graduate school, medical school, law school, or their field of work.

I was raised in both Toledo, OH and Clifton Park, NY. I receive a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Bowling Green State University.  During college I found my passion in Social Justice and Diversity Education, being heavily involved in several different organizations.  Since graduating I have worked mainly in the human services field, working as a residence counselor. I am excited to be a part of the Office of State Grants and working here at Ithaca College.
