Living on Campus

Living away from home for the first time can be a wonderful experience -- if your student makes the most of it. Ithaca College offers a wide range of services and support that will help this first taste of independence be more enjoyable (or at least less nerve-racking) for you both.

Quick Facts about Life at Ithaca

  • Over 70 percent of our students live on campus in our 52 residence halls. Among our special options are areas reserved for first-year and honors students, floors for students interested in multicultural or environmental issues, and residence halls that are substance-free or offer expanded quiet hours.
  • Three dining halls, as well as assorted cafés, snack bars, and convenience stores, provide sustenance for the campus community. Besides your basic tasty fare, we provide vegetarian, vegan, kosher, and special-needs meals, as well as brown-bag lunches, late-night meals, Sunday brunch, and Friday Shabbat.
  • Ithaca College offers numerous ways to maintain an active spiritual life. On campus you'll find a variety of religious organizations, including Hillel, the Protestant community, the Catholic community, and the Muslim community. Open to all faiths, Muller Chapel provides space for religious meetings, meditation hours, and study times. The spiritually unaffiliated are also welcome to simply take in the lovely grounds and enjoy a little quiet time.
  • In the interest of making a pretty safe campus even safer, Ithaca College has more than 70 blue-light telephones located strategically across campus. Public safety officers are just a pushed button away, 24/7. Not quite the Batphone of Gotham City lore, but close.
  • Unlike most public hotspots, Ithaca's ICAirnet wireless service is encrypted and secure, which makes web surfing significantly less hazardous (though there is nothing we can do to keep your student from buying up half the Urban Outfitters catalog online -- sorry).
  • The campus bookstore carries over 170 titles written by faculty, staff, and alumni. Not to mention enough IC gear to keep the entire family warm for decades to come.
  • The Ithaca experience doesn't have to stop at the classroom door. Students can find their niche in any one (or several, for that matter) of our roughly 150 academic, social, culture- and ethnicity-based, service, and athletic groups. There are clubs for everything from Frisbee to French, so don't expect too many phone calls home from bored students.
