Summer Music Academy: More Than a Summer Music Camp

The Ithaca College Summer Music Academy (SMA) is excited to announce its third season! Last year's success continued to establish SMA as a preeminent summer music program, enrolling over 320 talented participants from over 20 states and four countries, including Japan, China, Thailand, and Canada. An indisputable highlight of last year's program was the "flash mob" concert on the Commons that incorporated a 20-person orchestra and 160-person chorus. Watch the Video >

In 2013, we look forward to continuing the programming that has made SMA so successful in such a short time:

  • High School Division
    July 14–July 27, 2013
Programs: wind ensemble, orchestra, voice, jazz, and classical guitar
Our high school division is unique in that it offers a residential pre-college experience with a rich offering of music and non-music courses -- including a selection of over 25 elective topics -- taught by over 30 Ithaca College faculty and top music educators from across the country.

  • Intermediate Division
    July 28–August 3, 2013
Programs: wind ensemble, orchestra, and voice/musical theatre
Our intermediate division offers beginning and intermediate students the opportunity to work with renowned faculty in a fun and supportive environment.

We are constantly looking to add new programs and opportunities to enhance the experiences of our students. New programs for this year's high school division include the Jazz Institute, Performance Track, and International Division.

With 220 students already registered, this summer is shaping up to be a fantastic season! Enrollment is based on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to apply early.

The deadline for regular application is Wednesday, May 15, 2013.
