What do I need to submit as part of the application?
You need to submit your completed application, which you can download via our website; resumé; three letters of recommendation; two essay responses; and transcript (unofficial is fine). For more information on the application process, visit How to Apply.
While Park Scholar application materials are due by January 15, PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICANTS FOR THE PARK SCHOLAR AWARD MUST ALSO APPLY TO ITHACA COLLEGE BY JANUARY 2.
Are there minimum academic scores, averages or ranks that students must have in order to apply?
No, there are no minimum academic requirements. We will review all applications and encourage anyone interested to apply. However, the award is very competitive, and on average, recipients of the Park Scholar Award have an SAT average of 1350.
Is there a particular format for recommendation letters? Who should submit a recommendation letter on my behalf?
Recommendation letters may be included as part of your application packet, or may be submitted directly to the Park Scholar Program by those writing the letters. Letters of recommendation may be sent from whomever you decide. Whichever letters you choose to submit for the Park Scholar Award should address the award's selection criteria of academic merit, dedication to community service, strong leadership skills, and/or passion for the field of communications.
I have already submitted recommendation letters with my Ithaca College application. Do I need to send additional letters?
Concerning recommendation letters, it is completely up to you whether you choose to use the same three letters for your applications to Ithaca College and the Park Scholar Program. However, please note that your application to the College is automatically forwarded to the Park Scholar Award selection committee. Therefore, submitting different letters of recommendation will increase the overall number of recommendation letters that the committee has for consideration. Whichever letters you choose to submit for the Park Scholar Award should address the award's selection criteria of academic merit, dedication to community service, strong leadership skills and/or passion for the field of communications.
In addition, if you choose to use the same letters, we need copies sent directly to us, so that we may include them in your file.
I have already submitted an official transcript with my Ithaca College application. Do I need to submit an additional transcript with my Park Scholar application?
Regarding the transcript, yes, we need you to submit a copy to us as well. However, an unofficial copy is fine.
What information should be included on the résumé, and is there a recommended format?
In terms of the resume, we want to provide students with the opportunity to supply more details (e.g. responsibilities, accomplishments, positions held) on the various volunteer, cocurricular, extracurricular, and employment involvements/activities that they have completed (and listed in a general fashion on the application form). Students should also feel free to include more detailed information on awards, honors, etc.
How will I know when my Park Scholar application is complete?

Do I need to submit all of my Park Scholar Award application materials at the same time?
