Boasting a wide range of personalities and interests, the Class of 2012's fifteen students have already adjusted well to life as Park Scholars...and as college freshman. Collectively, the class has already demonstrated its commitment to Ithaca College's extra-curricular offerings, jumping into involvement with diverse activities, from ICTV to The Ithacan to IC After Dark. Many of the students have actively contributed to service organizations in the area, including Habitat for Humanity and the SPCA, and donated their time at the Longview Senior Center and South Hill Elementary School. With so many exciting projects ahead of them, the Class of 2012 seems poised for success for their four years at Ithaca.
With their experiences as first-year Park Scholars only a semester behind them, the sophomores serve as excellent role models and mentors for the incoming class of Scholars. They are an exemplary group of students, having all earned the distinction of being on the Dean’s List for the 2007-2008 school year. Collectively, the members of the Class of 2011 also boast an impressive resume that includes executive positions on campus organizations as varied as IC After Dark to Imprint Magazine. Community service is a priority for these students; just one example is the Stone Soup Philanthropy Corps., the brainchild of three sophomore Scholars.
Ambitious in their co-curricular involvements and successful in their academic records, the juniors have spent the first half of their year keeping up with their accomplishments in many different areas. Many have completed study abroad experiences and found them instrumental in shaping their interests and passions. Most of the Park Scholar group service project coordinators come from the Class of 2010, and these students also demonstrate their own devotion to service individually, partnering with a wide range of organizations, from the Lehman Alternative Community School to Colleges Against Cancer. Having earned an average cumulative GPA of 3.9, this group of students clearly is successful at balancing their academics with their other commitments.
With only a semester left at Ithaca College, the members of the Class of 2009 are continuing their commitment to academics, co-curricular organizations and service. Having now completed several internships and capitalized on a wealth of opportunities, the seniors have acquired many experiences. Their wide-ranging work with leadership forums, prestigious and award-winning media, and community-building groups will surely support these Park Scholars in all future endeavors.
The Class of 2013's fourteen students have been continually adjusting to life as Park Scholars...and as college freshman. The members of the class have jumped right into involvement at IC, devoting time to a diverse array of projects, including . Some of the students have already achieved leadership roles in their extracurricular involvements, including in the Student Government Association, and many others are sure to emerge in the coming months. Service has already become a priority for the freshmen, with service involvements including Habitat for Humanity, Water for Sudan, IC Human Rights, the SPCA, and many have donated their time at the Longview Senior Center. The students round out their time at Ithaca by contributing to projects in the Park School, such as ICTV, 360° Magazine, The Ithacan, Buzzsaw magazine and WICB. With tons to keep themselves busy, the freshmen Park Scholars should have plenty to maintain a fresh perspective on their community in their four years at Ithaca.
