Developing a Minneapolis television show that helps immigrants negotiate their new lives is just one of the many ways that recent graduate Kate Levinson has helped make a difference in the world. With the help of the Park Scholar Program she also spent summers working in rural Thailand and Brazil, but it was her semester living and researching in a refugee settlement in Uganda that focused her on the needs of displaced populations.

"Ithaca did a great job preparing me for the professional work I'm doing,” she says. “And the Park Scholar Program offered such strong support. It's not just academic. It's also about how I'm growing as a person. They really cared about the quality of my experience."

Kate's other activities included writing press releases for an international blindness prevention organization, interning at a FOX-affiliate morning show, and delivering news reports on Ithaca's own WICB.
