American Physical Society Scholarship for Minority Undergraduate Physics Majors
The American Physical Society Committee on Minorities in Physics has organized this scholarship program for minority undergraduate students in physics. The purpose of this program is to significantly increase the level of underrepresented minority participation in physics in the United States.
Award
Each scholarship consists of $2,000 awarded to the student for tuition, room or board, and $500 awarded to each college or university physics department that hosts one or more APS minority undergraduate scholars. The scholarship may be renewed at $3000 per year. Renewal is granted with approval of the APS Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will also match each scholarship recipient with an accomplished physicist who will act as a mentor.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- African-American, Hispanic-American, or Native American
- A U.S. citizen
- A Physics major
- A freshman or sophomore at the time of application
