Special Academic Opportunities

International Radio and Television Society College Summer Fellowship

The College Summer Fellowship Program is made possible by the generosity of communications companies throughout the broadcast industry.  It includes a comprehensive one-week orientation, networking, filed trips, and an 8-week fellowship at a New York-based corporation.  Fellows have worked at all four major networks, at local New York City radio and television stations, at national rep firms, advertising agencies, and cable operations.

There is no cost to the student and the IRTS Foundation will provide air or train fair, housing at a local college dormitory, and a small allowance.  Fellows must be available for the entire nine weeks. The 2010 dates have not been announced; in previous years, the dates were June 8-August 7 and May 31-August 1.

Applicants must:

  • Be full-time juniors or seniors at a four-year college.
  • Be students who exhibit a strong interest in electronic media demonstrated by outstanding course work,
  • extensive extracurricular activity and practical experience, although applicants need not be Communications
  • majors.
