DEBRA
MOREE, Ithaca, N.Y., associate professor of viola at Ithaca
College; M.M., B.M., Indiana University Bloomington. Moree is active
as a clinician and recitalist throughout the United States. She
is a former member of the viola faculty at Memphis State University
and the University of Northern Colorado and has taught at Indiana
University Bloomington, the Meadowmount School for Strings, Interlochen
National Arts Camp, the Merrywood Music School, and Killington Music
Festival in Vermont. Moree is principal violist of the Binghamton
Philharmonic and a member of the Ariadne String Quartet; previously,
she was a member of the Memphis String Quartet, the Colorado Arts
Piano Quartet, the Memphis Symphony, and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra.
SUSAN
SELIGMAN, New Paltz, N.Y., principal cellist of the Hudson Valley
Philharmonic; faculty member at the State University of New York
at New Paltz; teacher of cello at Vassar College and in her own
private studio. Seligman performs extensively throughout the Hudson
Valley and in New York City as a member of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic
String Quartet (now in its 16th season) and of the piano trio Innisfree,
in residence at Poughkeepsie Day School. She also performs with
the Pone Ensemble, featuring new and American music, and La Grande
Ecurie, a historic instruments ensemble. Seligman has performed
in festivals in France, Italy, and Brazil. Her discography includes
chamber music recordings on Soundspells, Albany, and Parnassus Records.
She is currently working with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String
Quartet on a compact disc of music of New York State composers.
She is a former student of Janos Starker and Aldo Parisot.
JOHN
LINDSEY, Potsdam, N.Y., member of the violin faculty at the
Crane School of Music of the State University of New York College
at Potsdam; member of the Aurora Quintet, Ruggieri Chamber Soloists,
and Potsdam Piano Quartet; concertmaster of the Orchestra of Northern
New York and the Hanover (N.H.) Chamber Orchestra. Lindsey received
Potsdam's1993 President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and was
named teacher of the year. Previously he was chair of strings at
Baylor University and the University of Kentucky; concertmaster
of the Dallas Chamber Players and the Lexington Philharmonic and
Warren Chamber Orchestras; and a member of the Concord Trio, the
Lexington String Quartet, and the Quartetto da Camera. In 1989 Lindsey
was chosen as the Allegro artist in residence for the city of Dayton,
Ohio. He has been on the sum-mer faculties of the Governor's School
of North Carolina, the National Music Camp and Chamber Music Conference
in Interlochen, Michigan, and the Stage de Musique in Marcillat-en-Combraille,
France.
GEORGE
MYERS, Trumansburg, N.Y., director of orchestras at Ithaca High
School. From 1980 to 1996 Myers was on the faculty at Hamilton College,
where he taught viola, violin, and chamber music. He is a member
of the Aurora Quintet and a frequent performer with the Catskill
Chamber Players. Myers is a graduate of Hunter College and received
his master's degree in performance from the State University of
New York at Binghamton. He has been guest conductor at several all-state
festivals in the upstate area. He has performed at the Festival
of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy, and toured Europe as soloist with
the Ostschweizer Kammerorchester.
MARLA
RATHBUN, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., music coordinator and ensemble
coach at Poughkeepsie Day School. She is first violinist of the
Taghkanic String Quartet, a member of the Aurora Quintet and the
Amor Artis Orchestra, and principal second violinist with the Connecticut
Grand Opera. She freelances in the greater New York area. Rathbun
received her B.M.E. from Capital University, then served as principal
second violinist with the Savannah Symphony and Savannah String
Quartet and taught at Savannah State College. While earning her
M.M. in violin performance at Southern Illinois University, she
was assistant concert-master of the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a Peace Corps volunteer in Quito, Ecuador, she played in and
directed a small chamber orchestra, performed with a string quartet
as first violinist, and was concertmaster of the Quito National
Symphony. She is a former student of Raphael Bronstein and Ariana
Bronne.
