Senior Art Show: The Work of Artwork

Work by ZakosThe Annual Senior Student Exhibition, held every spring in the College's Handwerker Gallery, features the work of upper-level students in the Department of Art and the Department of Cinema and Photography. Their creations range from oil paintings and mixed-media sculptures to videos and digitally manipulated photographs.

Says Harry McCue, chair of the art department and associate professor, "The senior art show is a capstone for our art majors and minors. It is especially important to the B.F.A. students, who are expected to have several major works in the show. All seniors may submit pieces, which are then judged by the art faculty. Students whose work is selected must prepare it for the exhibition --- for example, framing it or making a pedestal. The faculty provides technical help. The show is a huge undertaking, but the results make the enormous effort worthwhile. It is our students' most visible contribution to the College and the local community."
