Michael
Lindberg, assistant director of Campus Center and activities, recently
received the 1996 National Association of Campus Center and Activities
Outstanding Campus Activities Professional Award for the East Coast region.
The award recognizes one individual from each regional NACA organization
who has made a substantial contribution, both to campus activities on his
or her campus and to the professional field. Lindberg accepted the award
at the East Coast NACA conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
At Ithaca College Lindberg advises the Student Activities Board and Bureau of Concerts and provides leadership for 140 student clubs and organizations. He is also integrally involved in freshman orientation and first year programs.
Lindberg was nominated for the NACA honor by Jamie Pudney '98, executive chair of the Student Activities Board, and by three peers, including Brian McAree, assistant vice president for student affairs and campus life. McAree credits Lindberg with the development of innovative programs that help freshmen develop leadership skills and encourage them to participate in student activities. "Students have complimented Mike's willingness to assist them in all aspects of their programming, in development of their organizations and in their personal growth and skill enhancement," McAree said. "Students find him approachable, caring, and always willing to go the extra mile for their benefit."
Since 1991 Lindberg has served NACA in a succession of such regional posts as conference education sessions chair and conference chair. He has also taken a leadership role in the American College Personnel Association.
Comprising 225 member schools, the East Coast NACA is the largest of 11 branches. NACA membership includes artists, performers, and student leaders, as well as professionals in the field of campus activities.
