Commencement Ceremony

Saturday, May 15

  • Academic procession forms at 10:00 a.m.
  • Guests should be seated by 10:15 a.m.
  • Seating is on a "first-come, first-served" basis.
  • Procession begins at 10:30 a.m.
  • Commencement begins at 11:00 a.m.

There is a special seating section that may be used by individuals who, due to a health or mobility impairment or other disabling condition, cannot or should not walk from the parking lot to the stadium seating. Those guests may be driven to an area near the special seating gate where they can be dropped off and assisted to the seating area by a companion or by College personnel if necessary. A sign language interpreter is available in the special seating section. Because of space limitations, each disabled individual may be accompanied by one guest only. For further information, please contact the Traffic Bureau at (607) 274-3756, weekdays 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Arrangements must be made by Friday, May 14, 1999. Some may wish to view the ceremony on television (see "Cablecast" below).

In the event of severe weather, Commencement will proceed with two ceremonies in Ben Light Gymnasium, beginning at 10:00 a.m. See "Severe Weather Plan" for details.

Cablecast

The ceremony will be cablecast live to several campus locations and may be seen on cable channel 16. Tickets are not required for admission to the following viewing locations (see campus map):

  • Campus Center (various locations)
  • Hoerner Theatre in Dillingham Center
  • Ford Hall and Park Hall Auditoriums
  • TV lounges in all residence halls where guests are housed
  • Textor 102 and 103
