Demonstrating
the depth and greadth of her talents in her address at Ithaca
College's 104th Commencement, Maya Angelou exhorted the graduates
to develop courage as the foundation of all other virtues.
Before the commencement address, maya Angelou
met with a delegation of students from the Frederick Douglass
Academy.

At its May meeting the Ithaca College Board
of Trustees noted arrivals and departures on the board, recognized
two departing members for their service, and promoted a faculty
member to full professor.

Three longtime faculty members were honored
for their accomplishments at the annual recognition and awards
luncheon on May 11.
Twelve members of the College community have
been recognized for their job performance and for their contributions
to the campus and local community.

Nine task groups have been formed and have
held their first meetings as part of the campuswide planning
process.

The Hammond Health Center has received accreditation
with the highest commendation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations.

A grant of nearly $100,000 to the Ithaca City
School District will give a boost to efforts to increase the
diversity among teaching staff.
