Educational Technology Day Slated for March 23 The 10th annual Educational Technology Day will be held on Thursday, March 23, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Campus Center. The event, which is sponsored by the Office of Information Technology, gives faculty, staff, and students of Ithaca College and other colleges and universities in upstate New York an opportunity to learn more about the latest in computer technology. Those attending will be able to explore a multitude of computer-related topics, including the latest in educational applications, computer graphics, and music systems; the use of technology in higher education; Internet usage; and expectations for future computer technology. In addition, the day will feature a "vendor technology showcase," a "college showcase," and a series of one-hour seminars and demonstrations. Those attending the event will also have the opportunity to win an iMac computer. Among the more than 40 vendors committed to the event are Adobe Systems, Apple Computer, CanonUSA, Compaq Computer Corporation, and Oracle. "This year we have our best mix of vendors ever, including those representing computer hardware and software manufacturers, Internet service providers, ‘dot com’ Internet companies, audio-video dealers, and computer training resources," says David Weil, assistant director of academic computing and client services. The event is free and open to the public. To better serve potential attendees, however, the Office of Information Technology is asking people to register by using the on-line form or by calling 274-3030.
