Students Help Wishes Come True

Students at Ithaca College and Cornell University are working together to make wishes come true. A 5K-road race, "Running for a Wish" will be held at the College on Saturday, April 15, to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York. The nonprofit organization helps to fulfill special wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

There are two ways to support the fund-raising effort. Student runners from the two institutions are soliciting donations through pledge forms, while outside runners will pay a $15 registration fee. Registration begins at noon and the first 50 registrants will receive a T-shirt. The race will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Butter-field Stadium and will travel throughout the campus. Prizes will be awarded to the winners (excluding student-athletes).

The Ithaca College Community Service Network and the Student Wish Makers of Cornell University are both sponsors of the race. Pledge forms are available on campus at the Campus Center information desk and Fitness Center front desk, as well as in the community at Ithaca Fitness Center, City Health Club, Courtside Racquet & Fitness, GNC, Champ Sports, Klein’s All Sports, and Collegetown Bagels. All pledges and registration fees must be in by the start of the race on April 15.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the oldest, largest, and most respected wish-granting organization in the world, helping more than 66,000 children since its founding in 1980. For more information on "Running for a Wish," call 274-1267 or e-mail jmiller7@ic3.ithaca.edu.
