Ithaca College’s 105th Commencement on Saturday, May 13. Actor/producer/director
Henry Winkler will deliver the main address.

Concer will be held on Friday, May 12, at 8:30 p.m. in Ben Light
Gymnasium. Free and open to the public, the concert will be
directed by Dana Wilson.

This summer, as a recipient of "the most prestigious
internship you can get," Bluey will participate in a two-week
residency at Temple University and spend 10 weeks in a paid editorial
position with the Traverse City Record-Eagle.

President Peggy R. Williams has been elected to
the board of directors of the American Council on Education, an
organization representing some 1,600 of the nation’s colleges
and universities and nearly 200 national and regional higher education
associations and organizations.

A daylong conference of lectures and workshops
will be offered on Friday, May 19. Speakers and presenters from
a variety of disciplines will address health conditions and diseases
common to older women as well as traditional and alternative treatment
options and lifestyle changes that contribute to lifelong wellness.

Ming Cho Lee, whom theater historian and critic
Arnold Aronson called "the single most influential force in American
stage design," will speak on Thursday, April 27. The presentation,
"An Informal Talk on the State of American Theater," will begin
at 7:30 p.m. in the Hoerner Theatre in the Dillingham Center for
Performing Arts.

Martin Rand, a member of the Department of Psychology
at the College for 35 years, died March 28 in Geneva. He had been
diagnosed with lung cancer last winter and had planned to retire
from teaching at the end of the academic year.

Ithaca College is one of 24 American colleges
and univer- sities selected by the Eastman Kodak Company to receive
a $2,000 Eastman product grant. The grant is extended directly
to the educational institution in recognition of overall program
quality.

Wendy Clement ’02 and Quentin Machingo ’00 were
among the 60 students nationwide selected to take part in a poster
session designed to demonstrate to members of Congress the high
quality of research conducted by undergraduates in a variety of
disciplines.

Jazz Workshop met with the jazz band from Harlem’s Frederick Douglass
Academy on April 8 for a three-hour instruction session in the
Nabenhauer Recital Room.

Ithaca College’s Reunion 2000, "Making Memories
for the Next Millennium" will feature a variety of activities
and programs for alumni and their families from Thursday, June
1, to Sunday, June 4.

Three Ithaca College seniors won awards at the
Kennedy Center/American College Theater Festival regional competition
in January, and two of them will be competing at the national
level later this month.

Thanks to the efforts of the Staff Council, Ithaca
College may soon have its own Weight Watchers "At Work"
program on campus. The program, which is open to Ithaca College
faculty, staff, and students, will be launched as soon as 13 people
register and pay.

Every spring the Handwerker Gallery hosts a showing
of the creative achievements of students in the Department of
Art and Department of Cinema and Photography.
