Board of Trustees Elects Student RepresentativeAt its May meeting the Ithaca College Board of Trustees elected Kristina Pervi ’02 to serve a two-year term as student trustee. A resident of Millersville, Maryland, Pervi is majoring in applied economics with minors in finance and legal studies. Since the fall of 1999 Pervi has served as a resident assistant for the Honors Housing Program in Rowland Hall. She is responsible for helping foster a sense of community as well as being an administrator, organizer, programmer, peer counselor, and role model for residents on her floor, who are all participants in the School of Humanities and Sciences Honors Program. She is also chair of the Honors Housing Committee and is a member of the Honors Advisory Committee and Resident Assistant Recruitment Committee. Pervi currently serves on the Academics Committee of the Student Government Association and is a student justice with the Office of Judicial Affairs. She has worked on the ICTV program Fake Out, and this past spring she volunteered at South Hill Elementary School. She was nominated for the Ithaca College chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary, which recognizes the top one percent of residence hall student leaders on college campuses nationwide. In the summer of 1997 she attended the National Student Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C. Pervi holds the highest international rating — a gold medal ranking — from the United States Figure Skating Association, and she has been a figure skating instructor. Pervi succeeds Kyle Johnson ’00, who completed his two-year board term. He was recognized in a board resolution for having had a positive impact through his service, "lending always an insightful and confident presence in all deliberations as well as a practical approach to advancing the College’s mission in meaningful ways." Also departing the board was Mary Ann Sledjeski Costello ’69, who had served since 1991. Her fellow trustees lauded her participation, noting she "has always demonstrated her commitment to Ithaca College, giving generously of her counsel and advocating on Ithaca’s behalf." Reelected to three-year terms on the board were William Haines, Stephen McCluski ’74, Herman E. Muller Jr. ’51, Carolyn Serling, Diane Frankle Storck ’70, and Arlene Wolff ’57. Muller and David W. Sass ’57 were reelected as board chair and vice chair, respectively.
