Ramage Named Dana Professor
Ramage has written numerous journal articles on ancient and Italian Renaissance art. She has also coauthored a book, with her husband, Roman Art: Romulus to Constantine, which was recently translated into German and French. In addition, she has written two books in connection with the work she did at excavation sites in Asia Minor. One of the books, Twenty-five Years of Discovery at Sardis, 1958–1983, was translated into Turkish. In 1991 she was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London and in 1996 she received a Getty research grant. She is currently serving as director of the Wedgwood Society of Boston and finishing her second term as academic trustee of the Archaeological Institute of America. As a teacher, Ramage has been cited by her colleagues for the intellectual rigor of her curriculum and her vibrant inspiration. Students have also praised her, writing letters commending her generosity and her ability to make the ancient world come alive. In 1999 she received one of the College’s highest honors, the NYSEG Excellence in Teaching Award, cosponsored by the Independent College Fund of New York. Ramage earned her bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and her master’s and doctorate from Harvard. She joined the Ithaca College faculty in 1972.
