New Members Take Alumni Board Seats

Michael Kaplan ’85, a management supervisor with a New York City advertising agency, and Jeffrey Selingo ’95, an assistant editor with the Chronicle of Higher Education, are the newest members of the Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors. Kaplan and Selingo began their elected three-year terms at the alumni association’s annual meeting June 4. Two incumbent members, past president John "Jock" Bethune ’66 and Irvin H. Nash ’72, chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on Diversity, were reappointed. The meeting took place during the College’s Reunion weekend.

Kaplan, a telecommunications management major, is currently a management supervisor with Grey Direct, a direct marketing advertising agency in New York City. He is returning to the board after 12 years of prior service, including a 3-year term as treasurer. Since his graduation he has served as an alumni admission representative and a career development alumni contact. He is a member of the New York Metro Communications Steering Committee and a former chair of the New York Metro Alumni Club.

At the Chronicle of Higher Education Selingo, a journalism major, focuses on stories about federal higher education policies and developments in information technology and for-profit education. He is an active participant in the National Capital Alumni Club, serving as club chair as well as a career network volunteer.

Currently composed of 23 members, the board of directors is the managing body of the Ithaca College Alumni Association. The board has a leadership role in developing programs that give alumni the chance to maintain strong bonds with the institution and each other.
