Former Cornell
University professor and dean Francille Firebaugh and attorney
Susan Scanlon ’71 have been elected to four-year terms on the
Ithaca College Board of Trustees.

The board
held an in-depth discussion prompted by the ongoing work of the
All-College Planning and Priorities Committee, which has nearly
completed its development of implementation strategies for the
institutional priorities and associated goals identified last
spring.

President
Peggy R. Williams and chairman of the board of trustees Herman
E. Muller Jr. ’51 unveiled a portrait of Ellis L. Phillips Jr.
at an October 12 ceremony.

An opening
reception for Berenice Abbott: Photography will be held
at the Handwerker Gallery from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday,
November 9. The exhibit of Abbott’s portraits (such as Joyce,
left) and her images of New York City in the 1930s will run through
December 10.

The
Ithaca College Choir will perform the world premiere of George Tsontakis’s
Ithaka at the 21st Choral Composition Contest and Festival
on Saturday, November 11, at 7:00 p.m. in Ford Hall in the Whalen
Center.

The
Ithaca College Concerts season continues on Sunday, November 12,
with a performance by SoVoSó, a six-member a cappella jazz
ensemble that Bobby McFerrin has called "tight, soulful, and
a whole lotta fun."

Eight
new members were admitted to the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of
Fame on October 14. The induction ceremony took place during Homecoming
weekend.

Nearly
20 exhibits were featured at the Sodexho-Marriott catering showcase
held in the Emerson Suites on October 18. The showcase was presented
by Sodexho-Marriott to feature some of its new catering offerings.

Dedications
were held during Homecoming weekend for the "millennium garden"
(recognizing the class of 2000 senior class gift) and the "pathway
to the future," recognizing donors to the College's Millennium
Campaign.
