KudosJudith Andrew, library, received the Craig Koste Award for Outstanding Service, which is presented annually by the New York State Library Assistants Association. Andrew is a cofounder and past president of the association and currently serves as chair of its Public Relations Committee. Vincent DeTuri, chemistry, gave a seminar in September at the University of Rochester. Entitled "Proton Transfer between Carbon Acids and Methoxide: Gas Phase and Microsolvation Methods," the seminar focused on research he has been conducting with his students and the calculations they have been performing in his laboratory. Jason Hamilton, biology, recently coauthored an article, "Direct and Indirect Effects of Elevated Carbon Dioxide on Leaf Respiration in a Forest Ecosystem," in Plant, Cell, and Environment. Keith Millman, cinema and photography, will display his digital photographs in Digital 2001. The group show will be on display at the New York Hall of Science and at the Silicon Gallery in Philadelphia this fall and winter. Sponsored by Art and Science Collaborations, the exhibit intends to raise public awareness about artists and scientists who are using technology to explore new forms of creative expression and to increase collaborations between these fields. Bruce Smith, biology, has coauthored a book chapter, "Water Mites (Hydrachnida) and Other Arachnids," in Ecology and Classification of North American Freshwater Invertebrates, second edition.
