Ithaca College
alumni will be returning to South Hill Friday through Sunday,
October 26-28, for a Homecoming weekend that will include concerts;
a pep rally; a talk by Aaron McGruder, creator of the comic strip
The Boondocks; and the induction of 11 people into the
Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Mary Frances
Berry will visit the College October 22-26 to initiate the distinguished
visiting scholar in residence program. She will speak in classes,
meet with students and faculty, and present a free public talk
as part of the yearlong lecture and discussion series "Race
and Its Meanings."

A website
has been created to provide the Ithaca College community with
a source of continually updated information about the College’s
responses.

Ensemble
X, Ithaca’s acclaimed new-music band, will perform a free concert
in Ford Hall on Sunday, October 28, featuring works by Andrew
Waggoner, Dana Wilson, Karel Husa , Laurence Bitensky, and Aaron
Copland.

In addition
to workshops and career networking sessions, the annual Professionals
Symposium taking place Friday-Sunday, October 26-28, will feature
a keynote address by Aaron McGruder, creator of the comic strip
The Boondocks. The symposium will for the first time coincide
with Homecoming weekend.

The Distinguished
Visiting Writers Series will continue October 22-26 with a visit
from poet Sharon Olds. Sponsored by the Department of Writing,
the series will bring Olds to campus for five days of informal
meetings with students and faculty, a master class, and two public
events.

A faculty
recital of cabaret classics performed by baritone Angus Godwin
with guitarist Steve Brown, bassist Henry Neubert, and percussionist
Gordon Stout will take place on Sunday, October 28. .

A performance
of Renaissance vocal music by the Concord Ensemble --- "Sweetest
of Memories: A Program of Musical Parodies" --- will kick
off the Alumni Artists Series. The free concert will take place
on Saturday, October 27, at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall.

Outstanding
seniors and juniors (including transfer students with 30 academic
credits at Ithaca College, physical therapy students, and students
in the four-and-a-half-year music program) are eligible for nomination.
