Parents Strengthen Their Support of Ithaca College

Parents continued their generosity to the College in the 2001-2 fund year. Gifts to the Parents Fund from 3,620 parents of current students and alumni totaled $241,324. pie chartThis marks a 13 percent increase in dollar amount over the previous year, along with a remarkable 48 percent increase in the number of parent donors. Parents Fund Committee chairs David and Jeannie Brooks, parents of John '02, completed the second year of their leadership of this effort. Thanks are due them as well as the rest of the Parents Fund Committee for their work in making the fund a success.

Thirty-three percent of the parent donors chose to make unrestricted contributions, which allow the College to apply the funds where the need is greatest. Others chose to designate their gifts for an individual school (25 percent), athletics (20 percent), the campus chaplaincies (13 percent), or other areas, such as the library or scholarships. No matter how they are directed, parent gifts directly benefit the College and form an important part of the annual giving campaign.
