Homecoming Set for September 20 - 22Ithaca College alumni will be returning to South Hill Friday through Sunday, September 20 - 22, for a Homecoming weekend that will include athletic events, a pep rally, a concert by an acclaimed jazz quintet, and the induction of 11 people into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame.
The hall of fame dinner and induction ceremony will take place Friday evening at 7:00 pm in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall (tickets required); it will be preceded by a 6:00 pm reception. This year's inductees are John A. Cashman '61; David L. Clark '74; Steven T. Farr '94; the late John J. Hantz '51, M.S. '53; Derek W. Keenan '87; Peter T. Lambert '90; Robert G. Sampson '49, M.S. '55; Robert B. Tallman; Dawn Schmalzriedt Vollers '94; Andrew E. Vye '87; and Todd M. Wilkowski '93. Another Friday highlight will be a free concert by Five Play, an all-female quintet who bring their hard driving style to traditional jazz and big band standards. Other Friday events include a networking session in Williams Hall, a reception for the current senior class, the dedication of the 2002 senior class gift, and a pep rally and bonfire in preparation for the Saturday afternoon football game between the Ithaca College Bombers and the Hartwick College Hawks at Butterfield Stadium. Before the game an alumni tent located at the stadium entrance will provide a spot for returning graduates to gather and renew old acquaintances. There will be giveaway prizes that include a kayak, mountain bike, season tickets to College theater and music events, and a gift certificate to the College bookstore. In addition, hamburgers and other grilled items will be available as well as activities for the kids. And this year, for the first time, slices of "Bomber Blue" cake, a lemon pound cake with blueberries, will be on sale. In addition to men's and women's soccer games, other Saturday events include an alumni women's softball game and alumni men's lacrosse game, an alumni and student networking brunch, and a reception for current and former student leaders. Homecoming will also feature the Professionals Symposium, which will be held throughout the weekend. (See Symposium Brings Alumni and Students Together).
