KudosJudith Andrew, library, was awarded a certificate of achievement by the New York State Library Assistants Association in June. Lisa Maurer, multicultural affairs, has been certified as a sex educator by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. The primary credentialing body for sexual health practitioners, AASECT also encourages research related to sex education, counseling, and therapy, and supports the publication of professional materials related to these fields. Kit Muma, biology, copresented "Bat-Moth Interactions: Ecology, Behavior, and Physiology of a High-Stakes Predator-Prey Contest" at a seminar held at the Queen's University Biological Station near Elgin, Ontario, last summer. Patricia Zimmermann, cinema and photography, published an article in the July/August issue of the Independent, a publication of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers. Titled "Film School Detox: A Consumer Guide," the article outlined seven "myths" about film schools, including "Film school will turn you into the next Steven Spielberg" and "Film courses equal job training."
