Faculty Recital with International Flavor

Professor of trumpet Frank Campos and associate professor of piano Diane Birr will give a free recital at the College on Thursday, March 6. The performance will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

The varied program will include a classical concerto by Czech composer J. B. G. Neruda; Rustiques, a French work by Eugene Bozza; Credo, a dazzling American piece by John Barnes Chance; and a concerto written by Russian Sergei Vassilenko.

Campos is the principal trumpet of the Binghamton Philharmonic, a member of the Ithaca Brass, and performs with the Syracuse Symphony. He sits on the board of the International Trumpet Guild and writes a column for that institution's journal. Campos has appeared with numerous groups, including the Dallas Chamber Orchestra and the Fort Worth Symphony, and has performed with Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Bob Hope.

Diane Birr performs extensive-ly as a piano collaborator, serving as official accompanist to the Music Teachers National Association national competitions, the International Brass Congress, and the International Horn Society Workshop. She has recorded with Liscio, Crystal Records, and Houston Publishing.
