  • General Information and Requirements

The Suzuki Teacher Institute is sponsored in part by the American String Teachers Association with the National School Orchestra Association. Successfully completed short-term teacher training core courses may be registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Daily sessions include lectures and videotapes, repertoire study, technical study, observation of the Suzuki Student Institute, and informal chamber music. The schedule is intensive and may include some evening sessions.

All participants are expected to prepare the music in the books to be studied to the point of fluent performance --- preferably from memory. The instructor reserves the right to change a participant's status to that of auditor if he or she is unprepared. SAA requires that the books be taken in sequence through book 2. Teacher trainees must hold active membership in the SAA.
