Take It Or Leave It

Take It Or Leave It (TIOLI) is a team effort with the Ithaca College Environmental Society (ICES) to help reduce the amount of waste generated on campus when students move out after the spring semester.  It's the perfect way to start working on the first and second Rs: Reducing your waste and Reusing other items!

Every year, we put out TIOLI bins in each dorm's lounges, and students drop off things they don't want to keep and pick up things they like!

We accept things like:

• Non-perishable food
• Clothing
• Bedding
• Hangers
• Desk lamps
• Trash cans
• Laundry baskets
• Laundry detergent
• Small drawers
• Yaffa blocks
• Many other re-usable dorm items

After we collect all of the bins, the food is donated to a local food bank, the clothes are brought to the Salvation Army, and with the rest we have a TIOLI yard sale at the beginning of the fall semester on the academic quad. We always have a huge turnout at that sale - the things we sell are useful for dorm life, and WAY cheaper than what you could find at a store! 

Each year Take It Or Leave It keeps tons of material out of landfills.  Don't forget to look for our bins at the end of the year!
