Why are you interested in sustainability?
My interest in sustainability comes from my family’s connection to nature. For as long as I can remember we have hiked, camped, run, canoed, and gardened— these were incredibly special moments because I was with my family, but also because looking across the mountain ranges or gliding though silent swamps makes you understand something deeper about nature and why you, personally, are part of it.
What is your best advice on how to live sustainably?
Living sustainably is connected to living healthily, and sometimes this is not as comfortable as the alternative. Healthy, sustainable meals are sometimes not as satisfying as out-of-the-box macaroni and cheese. Walking instead of driving makes you sweaty. Taking a shorter shower isn’t as refreshing. But making this sacrifices is our responsibility to ourselves and to the earth, and in the end, doing so is a good feeling.
