Recycle

Campus Offices

We have been recycling in all the offices on campus since 1990. Our program is successful because you make it work!

If you do not have a bin for recycling, have too much material for your bin or are not sure if it is recyclable, contact us at the Recycling Information Line (x41777).

If you are purging files, please submit an iService Request with the Office of Facilities for a large recycling bin.

Laser and Ink Jet Cartridges:

Mail services will now accept printer cartridges and transport them to the Warehouse for processing. Please carefully repack the old cartridge in the same bag and box the new cartridge came in and re-close the box.for recycling the old one.

Small ink jet cartridges can be recycled using the postage plastic envelopes available in computer labs, at OSCAR or other locations on campus. The income from recycling these cartridges in this way helps to off set the costs of recycling and waste disposal on campus. If you need envelopes, please contact us at irecycle@ithaca.edu or the Recycling Information Line 274-1777.

Containers:

Please put containers in the bins located in the common areas near your office.

Rechargeable Batteries:

We accept only rechargeable batteries for recycling. Please submit an iService Request with the Office of Facilities to request a pick up. Single use, non-rechargeable alkaline batteries should be disposed of with trash.

Sensitive Document Recycling:

Locked recycling bins are available for file purging. The Office of Facilities can no longer provide free document shredding. Departments should review the guidelines for the handling of confidential material specific to their area. If document shredding services are required, please contact Wayne French (x45701)
