Assistant Director for Staff & Programs
The Department of Residential Life is currently accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Director for Staff and Programs. The Assistant Director appointment is a twelve-month, live-off position supervising professional Residence Directors/Community Director. Compensation is competitive and includes a meal and benefits package. The appointment is effective June 27, 2016.
The Assistant Director for Staff & Programs is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of student and community development for a residential area of campus. The Terraces/Emerson/Apartments area includes 14 traditional upper years’ residence halls and two on campus apartment complexes, housing a total of 2,400 students.
Specific duties include:
- Selecting, training, and supervising three professional Residence Directors, one professional Community Director, one full time Area Office Operations Assistant, and six undergraduate Office Assistants;
- Providing indirect supervision for 45 Resident/Apartment and Senior Resident Assistants;
- Serving as a level two judicial hearing officer;
- Overseeing one or more Residential Learning Communities;
- Chairing departmental committees;
- Providing support and outreach to students;
- Serving as a member of the Residential Life and Judicial Affairs Management Team;
- Participating in an on-call duty rotation in support of 4,500 campus residents.
The Ithaca College residence hall system houses approximately 4,500 students in 27 residence halls and two on-campus apartment areas. Our education program includes the First-Year Residential Experience, six Residential Learning Communities, and several specialty housing options.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field and a minimum of three years full time post masters Residential Life experience; demonstrated experience working with residential learning communities; experience working with diverse student populations; proven supervisory and management abilities; experience developing and implementing student learning outcomes; excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
