Billing and Appeals
Once an assessment has been made of an individual room, apartment, or suite, any damage found will be repaired. The cost to repair the damage will then be split equally between all room, apartment, or suite residents as is appropriate to the location of the damage. Only if a specific student or students take responsibility for the damage in writing, will the cost of repair be billed exclusively to them.
Students are charged only the actual cost of repair that Ithaca College incurs as billed by independent contractors, or as reimbursement for the labor and materials expended by our Facilities staff. There is no financial benefit to the college in damage billing.
Charges are posted to student accounts throughout the academic year. At the close of each semester, charges from final room inspections will be posted and a summary of the charges will be E-mailed to students' IC E-mail addresses.
If you do not submit an Apartment Condition Report/Room Condition Report (ACR/RCR), your room, suite, or apartment will be considered in "like new" condition, and you waive your right to appeal any damage charges assessed. You may contact your RD at any point during the academic year to review your RCR/ACR.
