Room Selection and Room Changes

First-Year Students

All first-year students are required to live in the First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE) Program located in the Towers and upper and lower quads. First-year students are not eligible to live in the Terraces 2-7, Emerson Hall, Circle Apartments or Garden Apartments.

The first 350 students to submit their Ithaca College deposit will have priority to select on the first selection day on a first come, first served basis. All remaining incoming students are assigned a lottery number at random that is published on HomerConnect after the last orientation session in July. Students will need to refer to their lottery number.  This lottery number will determine the day on which the student is able to select housing.  The student should view the housing selection timeline  to determine which day they will select housing.

The Office of Residential Life will call students who receive a lottery number above 1350 to discuss their housing preferences and will use their housing preferences to manually house them in a double, single, triple or temporary housing.  This effort is to help students who have the least number of housing options identify a space on campus that meets their needs.
