Room Selection and Housing Programs

Returning Students

If you are not exempt from the Residency Policy, you are required to select Fall housing on HomerConnect unless you receive prior written approval to live off campus. You must also complete a housing profile on HomerConnect prior to your selection date.

Squatting

You can verify your eligibility to keep (squat) your current assignment for Fall on HomerConnect. If you are eligible, you may squat a traditional room individually or with a roommate only if the space(s) has/have not been squatted by another current resident. You may squat a Circle or Garden apartment only if you completely fill the apartment and at least half of the squatters are current residents (e.g. 5-person apartment requires at least 3 current residents and 5 total squatters).

Apartment, Suite and Block Selection

Apartment, Suite and Block selection require a separate application which will detail the priority method used to determine awards. Apartments and Suites require sufficient applicants to completely fill the apartment or suite. Applicants awarded an apartment, suite or block will be published on HomerConnect. Awarded groups are guaranteed an ability to select the size and type awarded, but only on an available basis.

Specialty Area Selection

Learning Communities require a separate application. Approved Learning Community applicants will be published on HomerConnect. Students select in other specialty areas on a space available basis. Quiet Study and Substance Free require that residents sign a separate agreement prior to check-in.

Traditional Selection

Returning students need to refer to the semesters published on HomerConnect and the selection calendar in order to identify when you are expected to select your room. If you intend to select with a roommate, you will select on the earliest date of any roommate. Be aware that there is no guarantee that roommates will find a space available to select.
