Specialty Housing and Learning Communities
Eligibility for all Learning Communities is based upon an essay application available on HomerConnect. Participants are expected to be actively involved in the program.
The First-Year Residential Experience is a learning community exclusively for first-year students in Boothroyd, Rowland and Tallcott Halls. It is designed to address first-year student issues and needs with the Resident Assistants in this dynamic community highly involved with their residents.
The Housing Offering a Multicultural Experience (H.O.M.E.) Program is an excellent option for international and domestic students interested in multicultural issues, preparing to study abroad, or for first-time U.S. residents. Housed in Terrace 03, residents of the learning community are required to participate in 6 multicultural events and a Community Forum in subsequent semesters. First year H.O.M.E. participants will be registered for the required course prior to Orientation.
The Sustainably Conscious Learning Community, housed in Terrace 02, is designed for students committed to improving their relationship with the environment, society, and economy. Participants will be expected to participate in community meetings, group dinners, and education opportunities throughout the year.
The Outdoor Adventure Learning Community, housed on the second floor of Terrace 08, is for those new to Outdoor Adventure as well as experts. Participants will gain survival skills, leadership skills, and learn more about the environmental issues of outdoor adventure including the "Leave No Trace" theory.
The
Honors Housinglearning community is exclusively for students in the Humanities and Sciences Honors program. Located on the ground and first floor of Lyon Hall, it is designed to provide an out-of-class honors community to share academic experiences and other aspects of life at Ithaca College. A computer lab is exclusively for use by students in the program.
