Goal 1. Effectively incorporate administrative staff into departmental functions
- Encourage administrative staff to participate in existing college professional development programs
- Continue to include support staff in department social opportunities
- Provide additional/on-going training in regard to supervising student staff
- Identify expectations regarding administrative assistant participation in professional development
Goal 2. Continue to examine and improve the quality of Resident Assistant work life
- Utilize Survey Monkey and online systems for exit interviews
- Enhance Resident Assistant training around creating community by providing tangible tools
- Re-examine the focus of the Resident Assistant position
- Create a process for identifying and implementing Resident Assistant administrative efficiencies
- Explore ways to make improvements to Resident Assistant rooms
- Examine Resident Assistant recognition efforts and look at different options (i.e. merit reward funding, taking $50 of each Resident Assistant's compensation and provide options such as bus pass, microfridge or others)
- Review Resident Assistant training and look at ways to differentiate sessions for theme Resident Assistants and regular Resident Assistants
Goal 3. Continue to improve Residence Director work and living environments while providing opportunities for professional growth
- Continue to explore amenities for live-in staff (i.e. summer meal plan, dishwashers, washers and dryers, etc.)
- Create Behind Closed Doors training for Residence Directors
- Continue to use RD group collectively for ongoing training in Joint Area Meetings (i.e. supervision of student staff)
- Explore ways to implement mentoring within the department and across campus
- Utilize the Human Resources workload study and implement results with a particular look at different Residence Director roles
Goal 4. Improve Management Team quality of work life while providing opportunities for professional growth
- Bring in a consultant to look at workload issues for management team
- Make the new professional mentoring program available to new management team members
- Propose an increase to the professional travel budget
- Utilize the Human Resources workload study and implement results
