routine duties

To provide accurate information that is eligible to be disclosed to students, parents, staff, faculty, and other persons making inquiries to the Office of Residential Life as to policies, procedures, facilities, staff, and students, OR to appropriately refer these inquiries.

To log significant contacts including any conversation where an Ithaca College policy, the residential status of a student, or a student damage bill is discussed (these do not include returned calls to staff members nor inquiries for basic information).

To regularly check the FAX machine in order to log and promptly receive FAXes.

To check the Job Run box at approximately 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily in order to deliver Intercampus mail that we need to expedite.

To check the Communication Log at the beginning of each shift.

To maintain logs, binders, and work spaces in good order.

To escort contractors working in student rooms or apartments.

To escort candidates for RD and professional staff positions between their interviews, and to participate in candidate interviews.

To call students regarding housing profiles, current housing status, letters for pick up and other housing matters.

To handle transactions including Wait List, off-campus, apartment, and commuter applications, room changes, off-campus listings, vacancy forms, video/VCR check-outs.

To ask for proper identification and issue receipts as required.

To complete assigned tasks which include data entry, filing, copying, sorting, folding, posting, distributing, checking, and shredding.

To contact your supervisor or another full-time staff member as soon as possible to advise us of your absence from a work shift. An Absence from Shift form must be submitted to your supervisor for all missed shifts…

by the end the next scheduled work shift when an absence is due to sickness or a last-minute emergency.

at least one business day prior to a planned absence for all other situations (OA is responsible to insure that his or her shift is covered or that a written waiver to insure that coverage is obtained from his or her supervisor).

To provide your supervisor with a telephone number at which you can be routinely reached, a local address if you live off-campus, and a contact address for necessary correspondence that may need to reach you during Summer and Winter breaks.
